Process‐Level Assessment of the Iris Effect Over Tropical Oceans
نویسندگان
چکیده
The iris hypothesis suggests a cloud feedback mechanism that reduction in the tropical anvil fraction (CF) warmer climate may act to mitigate warming by enhanced outgoing longwave radiation. Two different physical processes, one involving precipitation efficiency and other focusing on upper-tropospheric stability, have been argued literature be responsible for effect. In this study, A-Train observations reanalysis data are analyzed assess these two processes. Major findings as follows: (a) CF changes evidently with stability expected from theory, (b) is unlikely control but related mid- low-level CFs, (c) day nighttime radiative effects largely cancel out when integrated over diurnal cycle, suggesting neutral feedback.

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

Dual-polarization radar rainfall estimation relationships have been extensively tested in continental and subtropical coastal rain regimes, with little testing over tropical oceans where the majority of rain on Earth occurs. A 1.5-yr Indo-Pacific warm pool disdrometer dataset was used to quantify the impacts of tropical oceanic drop-size distribution (DSD) variability on dual-polarization radar...
متن کاملClimate and the Tropical Oceans*
An attempt is made to determine the role of the ocean in establishing the mean tropical climate and its sensitivity to radiative perturbations. A simple two-box energy balance model is developed that includes ocean heat transports as an interactive component of the tropical climate system. It is found that changes in the zonal mean ocean heat transport can have a considerable affect on the mean...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
